SANGUEM: Minister for Social Welfare and Archaeology Subhash Phaldesai today has taken cognisance of the illegal excavation of laterite quarry near Rock Carving heritage site at Pansaimol and ordered local authorities to immediately stop this illegalities to protect the heritage site from any damage.

It may be recalled that recently in newspapers the illegality is ongoing at Pansaimol, the minister has taken serious note of the illegal laterite quarry near Prastar Chitra, a World Heritage Site at Pansaimal Sanguem, and ordered the local government body to close the ongoing excavation immediately.
Archaeologist Yogesh Nagvekar said that the ongoing work whether it is legal and illegal in the village of Pansaimal, is in close proximity of the rock carvings site included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This has garnered fame to Goa internationally.
Nagvekar said after knowing the facts and importance of the place some people are trying to harm the heritage site which is unacceptable.
He further said that every Goan should know the responsibility and importance of such historic places which is giving us a special place internationally. Nagvekar also requested that the work or activities going on should be stopped as soon as possible, otherwise it will tarnish the of Goa worldwide.
