GPCC Vice President Sankalp Amonkar along with Mormugao block Congress addressed media to highlight the issue of voter deletion from the electoral list and said that around 800 names were planned to be deleted from the electoral list at the behest of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik. Amonkar challenged the minister and said that he will never allow the names to be deleted and said that this was being done because BJP was scared of losing the upcoming Municipal elections . Amonkar said that there was misuse of power in deleting names of voters from electoral list to benefit the BJP through the backdoor . Amonkar also challenged Naik to come for a debate to speak regarding developments taken up in the constituency. Amonkar also appealed to the BLO, Dy Collector and Mamlatdar not to bow down to political pressure and not indulge in the deleting of names under political pressure
” On February 6th I had made an application to President , Chief Election officer Delhi and Elections officer in Goa objecting for 1251 names that were planned to be deleted. We then took a morcha to the Mamlatdar and collector and highlighted the issue that names were being planned to be deleted. The people who raised an objection on these names were mostly councillors but BLO who is supposed to be the person in charge did not inform about the deletion of names. The BJP had taken a lead to delete the names of the people who are not with the BJP. Today another 800 odd names have been put up for deletion at the behest of BJP led councillors and while we have 20,000 off voters, 1200 names were attempted to be deleted and this time another 800 names have been attempted to be deleted. Election commissioner has informed us that there can be a maximum of around 2 percent can be taken up for deletion. No one can delete the names of voters including Mamlatdar or collector . Only names of the deceased or girl who has been married or a person taking portugese passport can be deleted otherwise people who are not found in the house has to be mentioned as shifted. Today the BLO , Mamlatdar, Dy Collector are working under political pressure . Last time the Mamlatdar Saish Naik had not deleted the names and since he did not listen to the Minister and his PA , he was transferred.” Said Amonkar
Amonkar said Saish Naik was the son of Ayush Minister Shripad Naik who had offered a ticket to Milind Naik but Naik has transferred the son of Ayush Minister because he did not listen to him .
” Today the BLO should have given the names and Mamlatdar office should carry a survey but today Mamlatdar office is giving names to BLO and names are being deleted without survey . Most of the names deleted are from Baina who are not with the BJP . ” Said Amonkar
” Murari Bandekar himslef was living in Sada but has his name registered In ward no 8 in Baina but his name was neither deleted not shifted and a particular house in Baina had around 33 votes . There are many other cases where people were not living but the voters names were never deleted nor shifted. I will also start taking objections on some names that have been retained despite the person not living in the area ” said Amonkar
