PANAJI: Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) has urged Dr. Pramod Sawant to appoint ministers who have basic knowledge of their portfolios.
In a letter to the CM, GSIA congratulates Dr. Pramod Sawant on his re-election as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party and to be the Chief Minister of Goa for the second term.
“Dr. Sawant, in his first term of three years, has shown his leadership qualities under very trying circumstances, especially during the pandemic. He has been accessible to all, take people into confidence, and is amenable to suggestions for good governance,” GSIA president Damodar Kochkar said.
He said the GSIA is happy that Dr. Pramod Sawant has assured to do everything possible to work for the development of the State and to have ‘zero tolerance to corruption. GSIA assured our full support to the Government of Dr. Pramod Sawant for the next five years.
“While assuring our full support, we would like to request Dr. Pramod Sawant to choose his Ministerial team of persons with integrity, development-oriented and sensitive to the needs of the people of Goa. Persons with a bad record in handling the Ministry earlier should not be entrusted with the same Ministry. Ministers should have basic knowledge of the work they are to handle and ministries should be allocated on merits and not on any other considerations,” he said.
GSIA also wants the Chief Minister to establish grievances committees in each Ministry where the aggrieved public can seek redress.
“Strict action should be initiated on persons involved in corruption or adopting delaying tactics in the movement of work files. This should apply to even the Ministers. Announce an anti-corruption helpline as done by Punjab Government so that people can lodge a complaint of corruption on a WhatsApp number which should be monitored by the Chief Minister,” he said.
