ARAMBOL: Mandrem police in a raid at Arambol has arrested Sharmin Shaikh @ Maria for allegedly procuring girls for purpose of prostitution. Also 2 victim girls have been rescued.
As per information, while patrolling is PS area and at around 21:00 hrs when police staff of mandrem ps reached at near Arambol Junction it received reliable information from the sources that one Sharmin Shaikh alias Maria N/o Ahemadabad Gujarat had procured girls from outside Goa for the purpose of prostitution.
Also it came to light that she was supplying them to customers for prostitution and presently performing the activity Near Arambol Parking area, Arambol Goa.
Upon the said information conducted a raid with the assistance of ARZ NGO and rescued two girls N/o West Bengal from Hotel Laxmi House at Arambol, Pernem Goa of age- 25 yrs and 34 yrs and further lodged both the victim girls in the Protective Home, Apna Ghar Merces.
In this connection registered Mandrem PS Cr. No. 85/2024 U/s 143(3) BNS & sec. 4, 5 and 7 of Immoral traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
Accused person namely Shekh Sharmin D/o Najirbhai Shekh @ Maria Age-42 yrs, R/o Room No. 17-A, Kubernagar near Bhanu Vidyalaya, Kekadiya Vsas Ahmedabad, Shardanagar PS, Gujarat, presently residing at Arambol, Pernem, arrested in said crime for procuring and forcing the victim ladies into prostitution and earning from prostitution activities through her prospective customers.
The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of SP North Akshat Kaushal and under the guidance of SDPO Pernem Ashish Shirodkar. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
