The high court of Bombay at Goa has directed state forest authorities to inspect 10 captive elephants at various spice plantations and resorts within two months after an animal welfare group raised apprehensions that the animals could be commercially used again.
People For Animals-Goa, in their petition, stated that 10 elephants continue to be in the custody of a spice plantation, spice farm and a resort in Ponda and Collem despite state forest authorities issuing orders for seizure of the elephants.
