Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities in the incident.
The collapse was witnessed by neighbour Shambu Palekar, who immediately alerted Ward Councilor and Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC )Chairperson Girish Borker. Borker, along with fire station officials, quickly arrived at the scene. Chetan Honnaverkar, a fire station official, estimated the damages to be around Rs. 70,000.
Chairperson Borker expressed concern over the incident.
“We are thankful that no one was hurt in the collapse. The safety of our residents is our top priority, and we will ensure that support is provided to the affected families. I plan to request compensation to the victim from the Mamlatdar office. I will be appealing to the MLA Krishna Salkar to extend financial support”, said Borker.
