VASCO: In sync with the initiative taken by the Government of India to Commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence, Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters 11, Goa, took out a bicycle rally from Coast Guard District Headquarters Chicolna to Varca Beach and back on Saturday.
As Chief guest, DIG Arunabh Bose, TM Commander, Coast Guard District Headquarters No 11, Goa, flagged off the bicycle rally.
Bose speaking to reporters, said that The bicycle rally that began at 6.30 am had a total of 75 bicycle riders.
“The riders comprised of Officers, EPs, Defence Civilians from all the units under command at Goa. The bicycle riders also reached out to the local populace en route and appraised them of the importance of the National Flag and to hoist the flag at every household unit on the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign of the government. The riders will also sensitize fishermen community en route and brief them towards safe practices at sea for their own safety & security and to hoist the tricolour flag of India from 13th-15th Aug,” said Bose
“Importance of planting trees and keeping the ocean and its surroundings – a Plastic free zone will also be emphasized during the community outreach. The Aim of this rally is to engage the youth and cherish the environment of festivities named “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and ” Har Ghar Tiranga” programmes to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence,” said Bose
“On the occasion of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and “Har Ghar Tiranga”, there are also other events planned by this Headquarters such as Hoisting of National Flag at remote locations, Maharaja Shivaji statue at Chicalim, Tristao de Brigananza Cunha (Father of Goan Nationalism) statue Vasco-da-Gama, Drawing competition, tree plantation at Coast Guard Enclave, Illumination (in tri-colour) of Admin Block/ Residential Buildings/Coast Guard Officers Mess,” said Bose.
