MERCES: The Goa State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA), under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority, in association with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North Goa, organised an awareness workshop on the occasion of World Environment Day at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the District and Sessions Court Building in Merces.
The programme was attended by Justice Suman Shyam, Judge of the Bombay High Court and Chairperson of the Goa State Legal Services Authority; Justice Valmiki Menezes, Senior Judge of the High Court of Bombay at Goa and Chairperson of the High Court Legal Services Committee; and Vijaya Ambre, Principal District and Sessions Judge, North Goa, and Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, North Goa.
The workshop focused on environmental awareness and the importance of sustainable practices and legal safeguards for environmental protection.
Expert sessions were conducted by Dr. Ray Durbar, Scientist-F at the National Institute of Oceanography, and Costancio Fernandes, Senior Legal Officer of the Goa State Pollution Control Board. The speakers highlighted key environmental challenges, conservation measures and the legal framework governing environmental protection.
The event formed part of World Environment Day observances aimed at promoting awareness and encouraging collective responsibility towards preserving the environment.
