MORJIM: Goa Forest Department officials today have captured a Leopard that was roaming in Chopdem-Morjim.
Residents had complained of Leopard moving around in their village and accordingly a trap was laid by the officials.
After the initial sightings, the residents of the apartment complex were told not to venture out early in the morning or late in the evening.
According to wildlife experts, leopards generally adjust easily to their new environment as unlike other big cats, leopards can live in different types of habitats.
With vanishing habitat and prey, they usually come at night to look for stray dogs, and generally don’t attack humans, an official said.
Just days ago leopard was spotted in the vicinity of Deulwada, Palyem, prompting immediate action from concerned citizens.
Panch Shiva Tilve wasted no time in informing the Forest Department about the sighting, leading to the installation of a cage in the area by forest officials.
