PANAJI: Reacting to CM Sawant’s statement on religious conversions, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Michael Lobo today said that Goans will not be polarized as all the people in the state are united.
“Such type of statements by CM Pramod Sawant on conversions was not necessary during the holy week of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Such statements will not polarize the Goans; all people in Goa are united,” said Lobo.
He further informed that he will be personally meeting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in this matter as this statement has sent out a wrong message across the state.
“I am ready to go with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant if he shows me any conversions taking place in Church in Goa,” he added.
Speaking on the DSSY Scheme, Lobo said that the amount has not been deposited for the last 3 and half months (January, February, March, and April).
“On the first of every month, the money should be deposited in the beneficiaries’ accounts. The people are waiting for the money. It is said that around 3000 beneficiaries were blocked by GEL, and the payments were stopped pending restructuring,” he added.
Lobo also said that a think tank needs to be done, and a mechanism needs to be worked out.
“I will also write to Chief Minister requesting him to demand to release the payments,” he added.
