QUEPEM: The main road in Kanibagh-Morpilla has been neglected for many years, and the villagers from Morpirlla strongly demand that the main road be tarred.
Residents of Kanibagh Morpilla told reporters that the road condition deteriorated during the monsoons.
According to the locals, the road was asphalted and hot-mixed eleven years before, but since then, the road has been reduced to three-third due to complete negligence of maintenance and repair of Kanibagh Morpilla road.
Locals alleged that it was due to irregularities by the local elected representatives of panchayat and related departments; that’s why development works like roads which are important for a remote area to bring infrastructure and development for the betterment of the people and village.
Amrish Velip said that the condition of internal roads in the village has deteriorated completely, and the two-kilometre road in Kanibagh Morpilla village has become rough and dangerous, which has led to many minor accidents in the rainy season. However, for the last eleven years, maintenance and repair of this road has been zero and neglected, and still, nobody is interested and bothered about doing needful work, Velip added.
Another youth and a local Rohidas Gaokar lamented the situation, saying that the village has a population of about 300 and around 200 voters, but the basic rights of the village people are still being neglected. This is why still village-like Morapilla is very far from the development and basic needs of life like road, water, etc.
