MARGAO: Margao Police have arrested a man from Maharashtra in connection with the hit-and-run case reported on Tuesday in Margao.
The accused, identified as Swaraj Jagtap, was taken into custody after police intensified investigations into the incident.
Officials said an offence has been registered against him under attempt to murder provisions along with Section 190 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Police sources informed that the accused is scheduled to be produced before the court today for remand proceedings.
Meanwhile, the husband of the injured woman said she underwent surgery following the accident and is currently receiving medical treatment.
He stated that the helmet worn by the victim at the time of the crash played a crucial role in saving her life and preventing more serious injuries.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
