MAINA-CURTORIM: A police constable serving at the Maina-Curtorim Police Station has been suspended pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct involving members of the public.
The action comes after complaints surfaced regarding the constable’s handling of a dispute brought before the police station by two separate parties. Sources indicated that standard procedures may not have been followed during the intervention.
It is alleged that four individuals were detained at the police station for several hours, remaining there until late at night. Authorities are also looking into claims that the individuals were subjected to physical mistreatment while at the station.
A senior police official said the department acted swiftly after receiving information about the alleged incident.
“Based on the preliminary information available to us, disciplinary action has been initiated against the constable. A detailed inquiry is underway to establish the facts,” the officer stated.
Police authorities have assured that the investigation will examine all allegations and appropriate action will be taken based on its outcome.
