COLVALE: In a significant breakthrough, Colvale Police Station has successfully solved a high-profile cheating case registered on 13th November 2024 based on a complaint filed by Prathamesh Narhari Pingulkar, resident of Chicalim Colvale Bardez Goa.
The complainant was cheated to the tune of 22,24,475/- (Twenty-two lakhs, twenty-four thousand, four hundred seventy-five rupees) under the pretext of delivering Apple iPhones at prices below the market rate.
A police team, led by PSI Bharat B. Kharat, PC Sadashiv Parab, PC Santosh Narvekar and PC Sameer Naik of Colvale Police Station, closely monitored the activities of the accused over a period of time with assistance from the Call Monitoring Center, North Goa, and after persistent efforts, the accused, Mr. Baliram Prakash Mhapankar, age -31 years, Native of Mhapan, Taluka Vengurla, District Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, was traced today in Vengurla, Sindhudurg, Maharashtra.
Accused has been placed under arrest in Crime No. 92/2024 under Sections 319(2), 318(4), read with Section 3(5) of the BNS Act 2023. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Mapusa (DySP Shri Sandesh Chodankar) and PI Colvale Police Station (Shri Vijay V. Rane), with guidance from (Shri Akshat Kaushal (IPS), Superintendent of Police, North Goa.
The Judicial Magistrate Court, has remanded the accused to five days of police custody for further investigation.
