PANAJI: Stating that the Major Port Authorities Act will prove disastrous for Goa and India, the State Congress party has demanded that the law should be repealed.
Addressing media persons, Congress MLA Luizinho Faleiro demanded that the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant should lead an all party delegation to Center raising its consequences on State and demanding the withdrawal of the same.
He said that as per State TCP Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, the Major Port Authorities Bill, overrides all the State laws and gives powers to Center.
He questioned the silence of all the three Members of Parliament- Union Minister Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar and Lok Sabha MP Francisco Sardinha (Congress).
“Even the Chief Minister is silent on the issue. The Act will be disastrous for the State. It needs to be immediately repealed,” he demanded.
Former CM appealed all the three MPs to ensure that the BIll is withdrawn and State plight should be highlighted before Center.
He also requested all the Municipal councils and panchayats to resolve against the Bill and the same be submitted to the State government.
