MOPA: Manohar International Airport (MIA), announced its designation as an authorized Immigration Check Post (ICP) for the entry of individuals holding e-Visas.
International flights at MIA commenced on July 21, 2023, with the arrival of the first international flight from London – Gatwick (LGW).
These e-Visas are granted to foreigners with intentions such as leisure, visiting friends or relatives, medical treatment and business purposes within India.
Individuals holding e-Visas are granted entry into India exclusively through designated international airports and seaports. With the e-Visa facility now operational at MIA, international guests can expect an effortless entry process.
The airport eagerly anticipates the gradual addition of more international carriers to its repertoire.
Since its inauguration by the Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi, on December 11, 2022, MIA has rapidly established itself as a prominent player in the aviation industry. It commenced domestic operations on January 5, 2023, and within just three months secured a position amongst the top 20 airports in India, based on domestic traffic data from March 2023. Now, within mere seven months of its launch, MIA proudly embarks on its international operations journey.
Boasting state-of-the-art infrastructure, MIA is fully equipped with sufficient emigration and immigration counters to seamlessly handle international passenger traffic. The international departure section is enhanced with a dedicated 350-square-meter Duty-Free store, Forex exchange facilities, destination merchandise, free Wifi services and convenience stores. Cutting-edge security checks are conducted through Automatic Tray Retrieval Systems (ATRS) screening machines, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness. Inline screening for inbound bags is facilitated by the Customs department. Passengers also benefit from information desks, comfortable seating, contact stands, a baby care room, smoking lounges, mobile charging facilities within chairs, and porter/meet-and-assist services, among other amenities.
Mr. RV Sheshan, CEO of GGIAL, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “The introduction of the e-Visa facility marks another remarkable milestone for MIA. Our airport is now equipped with world-class infrastructure, including essential e-Visa, immigration, and customs services, to facilitate international travel. The demand for enhanced air connectivity from Goa to new international destinations is paramount. Establishing connections with additional international destinations will not only boost tourism in Goa but also catalyze socio-economic development in the region.”
GMR Goa International Airport Ltd. (GGIAL) is committed to providing unparalleled facilities and services to both domestic and international passengers, ensuring a world-class travel experience.
