PONDA: Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar has assured Ponda residents of greater accountability in administration, saying he would personally take responsibility for addressing the taluka’s grievances and remain available at the Ponda Municipal Council every Tuesday evening to hear citizens.
“An active administration is a sign of an active government,” Shirodkar said, stressing the need for the administration to remain responsive to public concerns.
He said the government would introduce greater accountability through compulsory audits of departments and regular reviews of development works.
Shirodkar also assured residents that Ponda would become self-sufficient in potable water by August 30. He said the Water Resources Department would work towards fulfilling the commitment and addressing the water requirements of the taluka.
Describing Antruz Mahal Ponda as an education hub, the Minister urged educational institutions to build on the region’s legacy by producing scholars who can contribute to nation-building and take Ponda and Goa to the national stage.
The programme was attended by NRI Commissioner Narendra Sawaikar, 6 TTR Commanding Officer Shantanu Kaushik, PMC Chairperson Veerendra Dhavalikar, Deepa Kolvenkar, Ritesh Naik, councillors, Additional Collector Vishal Kundaikar, Deputy Collector Kaushik Amonkar and others.
