PANAJI: Ahead of monsoons, the State government has directed mining companies not to remove water pumps from the site, which they are asked to vacate by next month.
“We have asked all the mining companies not to remove the water pumps installed at the mining site, and if at all there is a need, we will use requisite water pumps under disaster management,” said CM Sawant after a cabinet meeting.
Sawant also informed that he has already had a meeting Directorate of Mines and Geology, the Chief Secretary and the disaster management.
“After the notice was issued to mining companies to vacate the site, they have also taken off their water pumps, but we have requested them not to remove the pumps for de-watering,” he added.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant has also assured that new pumps will be installed, pipes will be laid, and electricity connection will be provided to pump out water from mining pits to avoid any mishaps during the monsoon.
