PERNEM: Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar said that Sunburn EDM should not be held in Pernem Taluka holds cultural heritage and should be destroyed.
“Pernem taluka holds cultural heritage, It’s better not to have the Sunburn festival there. It’s better not to mix Pernem’s tradition with Sunburn,’ said Arolkar.
He further said that sunburn is not suitable for Pernem taluka and that Sunburn is a touristically important event in which tourists from all over the country participate.
“Although it is a good thing to increase tourism through this festival, it is not right for us to forget our culture,” he added
Arolkar said that it is his personal opinion that sunburn is not suitable for Pernem Taluka.
For the past few years, the Sunburn Festival has been held at the Vagator Beach.
Speculation of a change in venue this year, possibly to Mopa, 30 km away and in close vicinity to the Manohar International Airport, came to the fore when Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar told the state Assembly during the recently held Monsoon Session that he will not allow the festival in the area.
