MARGAO: Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai has renewed his demand for reserving 80 per cent of private sector jobs for Goans, stating that local youth must receive greater employment opportunities within the State.
Speaking on the occasion of Labour Day, Sardesai also called for the regularisation of contractual staff employed in various government departments and institutions, saying many workers continue to face uncertainty despite years of service.
He stressed the need to safeguard workers from exploitation and urged authorities to frame policies that ensure job security, fair treatment and protection of labour rights.
The Fatorda MLA said Goa’s development should directly benefit its people and maintained that employment policies must prioritise locals, particularly in the private sector.
Sardesai further highlighted the contribution of workers towards the State’s economy and appealed for stronger welfare measures aimed at improving their working and living conditions.
