MARGAO: Navelim Sporting Club defeated United Club of Verna 3-0 to enter into the finals of the Cana-Benaulim inter-village football tournament, organized by Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association and played at St. John de Baptista football ground, Benaulim.
Both teams gave their best in front of above 800 Clifton Rebello of United Club of Verna gave his best to his team, and Ronaldo Pereira of Navelim sporting club gave his best to his team.
Nevin Pereira of of Verna took a powerful shot but missed the Navelim sporting club target by whiskers in the 6th minute after that a counterattack by Navelim sporting club through Venlu Costa’s shot was saved by the United Club of Verna goalkeeper.
Wellington Almeida of Navelim sporting club took a power-packed shot but was pushed away to safety by Royal Moniz goalkeeper of the United Club of Verna. Later, Clive Fernandes of United Club of Verna’s long ranger failed to pop up into the Navelim sporting club net.
Navelim Sporting Club changed the game
plan and netted three fast-track goals through Venito Costa in the 37th minute Wellington Almeida In the 56th minute again Wellington Almeida took a shot which got the deflection of United club of Verna’s Eusebio Fernandes and the ball went into their own net in the 70th minutes.
Navelim Sporting Club will meet Guardian Angel SC in the final on 25th August.
