MAPUSA: A 30-year-old man originally from Nepal was found dead inside a roadside drain at Navetim, Pilerne, late on Thursday night, police said.
According to police, the incident came to light on June 30, 2026, at around 10.37 pm after a phone call was received from Suvarna Singh Rane of Pilerne informing that a person was lying inside a drain beside the road.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and found the man lying inside the drain. A 108 ambulance was also called to the scene, and medical personnel declared the person dead.
During inquiry, the deceased was identified as Resham Barghare, originally from Lekbeshi, Surkhet, Nepal, and presently residing at Maina, Pilerne.
Initial inquiry reportedly revealed that the deceased was mentally ill and habituated to alcohol consumption.
Police conducted an inquest and scene of occurrence panchanama, following which the body was preserved at the GMC Morgue in Bambolim.
Police said no foul play is suspected at present. Further inquiry is being carried out by PSI Dishan Naik of Goa Police.
