PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that another Cath lab would be introduced at Goa Medical College (GMC), which will be dedicated to the neurology department for coiling.
Rane held a meeting with Dr Guruprasad, Dr Michelle, Dr Pankaja, Dr Joel, Dr Amar Prabhudessai and Dr Rajnanda Desai to further strengthen the Cardiology Department.
“We already have two new Cath labs in the process; another Cath lab will be introduced, which will be dedicated to the neurology department for coiling,” said Rane.
He said they emphasised ways to further enhance the department, introduce new facilities for the patients and bring in new technologies for doctors.
“Our objective for discussion was to ensure we start the new unit of Cardiology Dept. at Super Specialty Block at the earliest,” he added.
The Health Minister also reviewed USAID RISE implementation activities in Goa for strengthening of critical care health system in the presence of Dr Abhishek Thakkar – Technical Officer – Strategic Planning – USAID RISE, Dr Vinella Gomes – Technical Officer – Health Systems Development and Dr Rajnanda.
Rane said that the discussion revolved around updates on the functioning of the recently established Next Generation Sequencing Lab and planned to strengthen of critical care eco-system through the set-up of state of a art critical care skills lab.
“Updates on the progress of deliverables for Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) & state’s participation in upcoming regional review workshop on PM-ABHIM,” he said.
