PANAJI: The BJP Goa President Sadanand Tanavade, has dismissed recent press claims that Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar would succeed Pramod Sawant as chief minister, rejecting any potential shift in the state’s government.
He added that the BJP is a disciplined party and that a process is followed to make any changes of this kind.
“There is no substance in claims of leadership change or cabinet reshuffle, and the party has not taken any such decision in the matter as of now,” he said.
According to Tanavade, if a change in leadership was imminent, the party’s national leaders would have come to Goa and conferred with local party officials before making a final decision,”
Tanavade also said that Rane’s discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other party national leaders shouldn’t be interpreted as a sign of a potential leadership shift.
He also expressed concern about the news that the BJP central leadership had called BJP MLA Pravin Arlekar to New Delhi.
“Who had summoned him to the national capital is the real question,” he continued.
According to Sawant, the BJP central leadership makes all decisions, even those involving a change in leadership, a reshuffle of the cabinet, or a reshuffle of the portfolio, and the State unit has no input.
The central party, the BJP, does not make decisions at the state level.I shall confer with the party high command over the reorganization of the cabinet. Although it will take time, a cabinet change will eventually occur. “Portfolio reshuffle will also take place,” he added, “not so soon.”
