PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that there is no such mechanism constituted to initiate against the Departments which failed to utilize TSP funds by this Directorate.
“There is no such mechanism constituted to initiate against the Departments which failed to utilize TSP funds by this Directorate; and there is no diversion of TSP funds for non-tribal development purpose,” said Sawant.
He further said that Directorate of Tribal Welfare conducts the District Level Planning & Monitoring Committee meeting which is chaired by the Collector (North/South) and Executive Committee meeting is chaired by Chief Secretary, Government of Goa wherein utilization of TSP fund of line departments are monitored.
“There are 28 line department implementing Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) including Tribal Welfare department,” he said.
Sawnat also said that the TSP funds are utilized by the line departments through various Schemes implemented by them for the benefit of the ST population.
Members of 16 Scheduled Tribe (ST) associations, gathered under the banner of Mission Political Reservation for Scheduled Tribes of Goa and GAKUVED Federation at the Lohia Maidan in Margao, collectively resolved to boycott the Lok Sabha election in 2024 if their demand of political reservation was not fulfilled by the government.
A resolution in this regard was passed in the presence of a largely-attended meeting of ST community members at Lohia Maidan, which was held in observance of the death anniversary of two ST youths-Dilip Velip and Mangesh Gaonkar. The ST leaders also held a daylong hunger strike at Lohia Maidan.
