CURTORIM: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, made a noteworthy announcement when he said that the State administration has chosen not to approve the contentious Sunburn EDM festival to be hosted in South Goa.
Widespread objections from the community prompted this decision. Lourenco said that some MLAs, including Mauvin Godinho and Antonio Vas, met with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant before taking this position.
He claimed that before this, he had personally followed up with the CM numerous times and that they had all expressed their opposition to Sunburn taking place in South Goa during the meeting. Lourenco emphasized that the administration has, in principle, decided against allowing the festival in South Goa.
“We met separately with the Chief Minister and told him we do not want Sunburn in the South,” Lourenco stated.
The head of the GIDC clarified that his responsibility was to persuade the government to oppose the event’s moving to South Goa rather than holding protests in public.
Lourenco made it clear that while he respects people who are against the festival, he was disappointed to be singled out for criticism as though he was the one who brought Sunburn to South Goa. He brought up the fact that Goa has hosted Sunburn for a number of years.
“Sunburn has been present for a long time. He recalled, “I was the first MLA at that time, and Sunburn was going on when the Congress government was there with Digambar Kamat as the Chief Minister.
