PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that non-performing and loss-making government corporations will be shut down.
CM Sawant was addressing the media while handing over the dividend cheque from EDC.
“We will take a review of all the state-run corporations, and those not required would be shut,” said Sawant.
He further said that these corporations are unnecessary and cause financial burdens on the state.
“Only profit-making or self-sustaining corporations will be allowed to continue.EDC is one of the self-sustaining corporations,” he added.
Sawant said that every corporation has the scope, but they are not exploring it.
“KTCL will not be seen in loss post the coming budget. We have given them different tasks wherein private buses will be taken on board,” CM said.
He also said that two-wheelers will be taken onboard to provide public service through KTCL.
Meanwhile, EDC Chairman Sadanand Tanavade submitted a Cheque dividend of Rs 86,20,260 to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
“EDC is the government-supporting corporation as it provides loan, promote schemes, and facilitate in Goa,” said EDC Chairman Sadanand Tanavade.
The function was held in the presence of B S Pai Angle ( EDC MD), Sanjay Satardekar (Vice Chairman, EDC), and B S Borkar ( Joint MD, EDC).
