PANAJI: North Collectorate has amended October 30, 2024 memorandum by withdrawing a clause that gave no compensatory off to staff attending offices on Saturdays.
The withdrawal comes after recommendations from human rights body. Staff asked to mark attendance every 2 hours to avail comp off.
In a memo dated October 30, 2024, the North Goa Collector Sneha Gitte, IAS, requested that the Deputy Collector and Mamlatdars’ office staff report to work on Saturdays as instructed by the Revenue Courts’ presiding officers. This will help them conduct hearings for the timely resolution of Mundkar and Tenancy cases.
The complaint claimed that the memo’s statement that no compensatory leave would be given for the same was a blatant disregard for the law, which requires that overtime pay or compensatory leave be given for the additional hours worked.
The Commission stated that in accordance with the Central Civil Service Rules, any government employee who is not a Gazetted Officer and works on holidays must be granted compensatory leave in place of duty performed on holidays. This leave must typically be taken within a month.
In a letter dated December 18, 2024, the anonymous employees under the jurisdiction of the North Goa Collector and five offices of Mamlatdars of Bardez, Pernem, Tiswadi, Bicholim, and Sattari Talukas complained about the unjust treatment of certain employees, which violated their rights.
