PANAJI: North Goa District Magistrate Ankit Yadav, IAS, has issued a preventive order restricting aerial photography, videography and the operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in designated areas of North Goa on August 26, 2026, ahead of a scheduled VVIP visit.
The order has been issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, and will remain in force from 6 am to 5 pm on August 26.
The restrictions will apply within a 2-kilometre radius along the Mopa link road route, NH-66 from Colvale to the Border Check Post at Patradevi, and the Hutatma Smruti Smarak at Patradevi.
The order prohibits the flying of UAVs and drones as well as aerial photography and videography within the specified areas during the restricted period.
Police personnel and designated government officials or agencies operating drones strictly for official duties have been exempted. Such personnel must be in uniform and carry valid official identity and authorisation cards issued by the competent authority.
The District Magistrate has directed police stations across North Goa to strictly enforce the restrictions.
Any violation of the order will invite legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
