New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced the establishment of fast track courts to ensure speedy trials and stringent punishment for those involved in examination paper leak cases, saying the welfare and future of the country’s youth remain the government’s highest priority.
In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister said the government had directed the concerned authorities to take all necessary steps to implement the decision. He added that the move was part of a series of measures aimed at protecting students’ interests and warned that those attempting to jeopardise the future of young people would face strict action.
The announcement comes amid continuing protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak, with demonstrators demanding greater accountability and reforms in the examination system.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal welcomed the decision, saying the fast track courts would help ensure that those responsible for paper leaks are brought to justice. He reiterated that the government remained committed to safeguarding students’ futures and providing opportunities for the country’s youth to achieve their aspirations.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Modi described examination paper leaks as a “grave sin” during a meeting of the NDA Parliamentary Party. He stressed that those responsible must receive the strictest possible punishment and called for a robust system to prevent such incidents in the future.
According to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, the Prime Minister also urged the Centre and all state governments to work together, regardless of political affiliations, to prevent future paper leaks. He said the issue should be treated as one of national interest rather than party politics.
The protests in Delhi were triggered by allegations of irregularities in examination and recruitment processes. Demonstrators have also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the handling of the controversy. The agitation intensified after police stopped an Opposition backed march towards Parliament, leading to clashes, detentions and multiple FIRs.
