PANAJI: Considering the gravity of the criminal offence, the Goa police have transferred Rs 130 crore share market scam, involving seven accused, from the economic offences cell (EoC) to the Crime Branch (CB) with immediate effect.
The EOC has booked five directors of a real estate company in connection with a case in the ‘stock market’ scam. Rodrigues and his wife Deepali Parab allegedly cheated people, mostly from Salcete, of over Rs 100 crore by promising lucrative returns on investments in the share market. The EOC registered the first FIR in the case on Aug 30, 2023.
“Keeping in view the gravity of the criminal case registered at EOC Police Station Cr. No. 04/2023 u/s 406, 420 r/w 34 IPC and to ensure a thorough and more professional investigation, the case stands transferred to Crime Branch PS Ribander with immediate effect for further investigation,” the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Range Varsha Sharma said in the order issued.
Sharma has directed the police inspector of EOC Police Station to hand over the case papers and up-to date case diaries along with attached Muddemal property if any in the case, to the Crime Branch PS Ribander Panaji.
“Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, shall entrust this case to a competent Police Officer to conduct further investigation of the above case and monitor the investigation of the case personally,” she said.
EOC had last week issued Look Out Notice against accused Deepali Balkrishna Parab, Sunita Rodrigues, Nolan Lawrence Antao, Joaquim Rosario Pires, Vijay Dattatray Joil, Navnik Mario Armando Pereira, and Sushant Manohar Ghodge to prevent them from fleeing the country and to ensure that they are available for investigation.
The main accused, Myron Rodrigues, who is currently absconding, a LOC and Blue corner notice is also issued against him.
Directors of Idylic Goan Gateways and Developments Pvt Ltd who were booked are Antao (32) and Pires from Fatorda; Joil (54), from Maharashtra; Pereira (55) from Benaulim; and Ghodge (53) from Pernem.
