PANAJI: More than 400 alleged victims of the BotBro-MindCrypto forex and cryptocurrency scam are being represented by advocates Laxman Pednekar and Siddesh Shet, as the investigation into the case continues.
The victims include investors from Belagavi, Khanapur and nearby areas who reportedly put money into the trading company.
The victims have welcomed the arrest of accused Ashutosh Naik, crediting Economic Offences Cell (EOC) Police Inspector R. Sheikh with taking action in the case. They have also urged the investigating authorities to trace and arrest the other accused allegedly linked to the matter.
Naik was arrested by the EOC on August 6, 2026, in connection with the alleged forex and cryptocurrency scam.
Following his arrest, the Sessions Court in Merces remanded Naik to eight days of police custody to facilitate further investigation.
The court is scheduled to hear Naik’s bail application in the second half of Tuesday.
The investigation is expected to focus on the alleged financial transactions, the role of other persons named in the case and the extent of losses suffered by investors.
With over 400 alleged victims now represented in the matter, the case has drawn attention from investors beyond Goa, including those from neighbouring Karnataka.
The victims have called for a comprehensive investigation and further arrests, while the authorities continue to examine the allegations and gather evidence in the case.
