MARGAO: Raison Almeida, the chairman of the non-governmental organization Green Goa Foundation (GGF), has filed a case against Bala Nandeswar Rao and Shanti Bala with the South Goan superintendent of police for allegedly scamming desperate job seekers out of more than Rs 10 crore by using a phony foreign job consultancy.
The accused, according to the complaint, operated from an office at Classic Harmony, across from Vishal Mart, Aquem, Margao, under the name “Dream for Overseas Consulting Pvt. Ltd.” They allegedly charged large fees put into their accounts via NEFT after luring job seekers with false promises of work overseas in nations like Malta, the USA, Canada, and Australia.
Throughout the visa and migration procedure, the victims were guaranteed authentic paperwork and support. Investigations, however, showed that in order to enable illegal migration, the accused falsified industrial training records, experience certificates, and sponsorship letters.
The lawsuit also brought to light a situation in which the fraud was exposed when the US Embassy in Chennai detected a forged paper that Bala Nandeswar Rao had submitted.
The directors allegedly left the state after closing their Margao business, leaving the victims in a desperate attempt to get their money back.
In order to track down the accused, retrieve the money, and hold them responsible, GGF has called for prompt action.
