PANAJI: Financial aid of Rs 5 lakh apiece has been given by the State government for the establishment of new private museums and for the improvement of the infrastructure of already-existing museums.
One museum will be chosen each year under the “Scheme for Financial Assistance to Museums,” which was created by the Directorate of Museums. After five years, the plan will be reassessed based on its performance.
According to the plan, the state would provide financial support to museums that promote, preserve, and conserve cultural heritage, such as antiquities, numismatics, paintings, folk art, manuscripts, and other such artifacts that represent Goan history, culture, or life.
Any museum with a creative idea may also be considered by the state for grant approval.
According to the notification, “the scheme’s objective is to provide financial assistance for the establishment of private museums and for the professional development of existing museums, managed by individuals, institutions, voluntary organizations, trusts, etc. registered under the Registration of Societies Act of 1860 and/or Indian Trust Act of 1882 in the State of Goa or possessing recognition certificate from the Department of Museum and having land or building in its own name or leased property with lease of minimum 30 years.”
