PANAJI: Goa today has reported four more cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19. Of the four patients one patient is from Goa and has no reported travel history.
“Few samples that were sent to NIV Pune for genome sequencing have confirmed 4 more cases of Omicron in the state of Goa; 1 patient is from within the state of Goa, with no travel history, indicating,” said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane
He further said that the person with no travel history from Goa, indicates that the indigenous spread will be further examined by experts then will be discussing with the CM on further course of action.
Speaking on the cruise at MPT, Rane said that out of 2000 samples tested from Cordelia cruise ship, 66 passengers tested positive for COVID19.
“Respective collectors & MPT staff have been informed; Govt will take appropriate measures to discuss disembarking of passengers,” said Rane
Rane this morning attended the task force committee meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant along with expert committee members to discuss our plan of action to curb the surge in Covid-19 cases in the state of Goa.
“We deliberated on various ways to ensure we don’t take any knee-jerk decision and ensure that the citizens as well as the tourists coming to Goa are safe,” he added
Meanwhile, Rane claimed that in view of the spike we have been seeing in other states, appropriate measure will be taken in sync the overall guidelines of Government of India.
