PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that at least one event of the G-20 Summit is likely to be held in the state of Goa.
CM Pramod Sawant said this while he addressed the gathering on launching online tourism registration services.
“At least one event of the G-20 Summit is likely to be held in the state of Goa. This will help us boost the tourism industry; I have already spoken to PM Narendra Modi in this regard,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that there was a need to bring in tourism-related services in online mode in a bid to provide ease of doing business.
“Goa has been the top tourism destination for the tourists from Goa and on an international level. Illegal things in tourism will not be tolerated at all, he said.
Sawant also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate Mopa International Airport on August 15.
“To facilitate tourism in the hinterland, we will start paid transport on weekends,” CM Sawant added.
Speaking on the launch of online registration of tourism services, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that any file which is not cleared within the stipulated time manner would be deemed approved.
“We need quality tourism. These online services will boost the industry in Goa,” he said.
Khaunte said that all the beaches across the state would have a convenience centre which will have locker rooms, help desk, showers, and other facilities needed for tourists,
“All activities related to tourism in the state will go online to facilitate ease of doing business to stakeholders,” Khaunte said.
Khaunte said that all renewals would be online. End-to-end support will be provided, and there will be no harassment of stakeholders.
“With hotels in the state facing a shortage of skilled staff, the minister added that skilling and support will be provided to local youth to make them employable,” he added.
