PANAJI: Minister Subhash Phal Dessai today said that opposition towards ferry fare issue is politically motivated.
“I have told CM Pramod Sawant to take whatever decision he feels right. This opposition towards this issue is politically motivated,’ said Phal Dessai.
He further said that he intended to improve ferry services by generating revenue and nothing else.
“I have spoken to CM, I am ok with any decision CM takes on the issue,” he added.
The state government notified the new rates for 18 ferry routes across the state. According to the notification issued by the River Navigation department, two-wheelers will now be charged Rs 10 per trip, while four-wheelers will have to pay Rs 40.

Under the revised rates, two-wheelers can avail a monthly pass for a fee of Rs 150 for unlimited trips and four-wheelers can avail the monthly pass for Rs 600.
For medium commercial vehicles, the proposed rate per trip is Rs 100, while a monthly pass can be availed for Rs 1,500.
The new rates will come into effect from November 16.
