With the Opposition Congress, Goa Forward, MGP and independent Rohan Khaunte, in no mood to relent, the one-day all important Monsoon Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held on Monday is expected to be chaotic.
While the session has been curtailed from 15-day to just one day, the Opposition has demanded that the day be utilised for discussion on COVID19 pandemic itself.
“People are dying and the government which said bhivpachi garaz na is now shying away from discussion on COVID19,” said Leader of Opposition Digamabar Kamat.
Besides, Kamat – Vijai Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte and Sudin Dhavalikar have demanded that the discussions be held on pandemic, financial status and the deforestation in Mollem.
However, the government has plans to pass the Budget as well as half a dozen bills.
The government has said that the next session in winter could be held for a longer period if situation improves.
For the first time, the Assembly will not allow general public.
Beside, there would be restrictions on personnel with Ministers, MLAs as well as the Speaker himself.
The Speaker Rajesh Patekar has said that the Legislature has taken all precautions to maintain social distancing and sanitisation in the one day session.
He informed that the police presence too has been restricted.
