PANJIM: Panaji Sessions Court today has demanded all five accused to ten days police custody in the fake currency case.
All the accused, arrested yesterday from Calangute, are resident of Chandigarh, around Rs 2.96 lakh fake currency was seized.
The five arrested have been identified as Rajdeep, Gagandeep, Harjeet, Rahul and Anurag, Panjim police said.
Panjim police officials said that the five had come from Chandigarh a week ago and were using fake Indian currency notes in parts of Panjim and Porvorim.
“They were tracked using technical surveillance and search at Calangute has led to recovery of different denominations of ₹ 100, ₹ 200 and ₹ 2000 notes and the total amount of fake currency seized is around ₹ 2,96,400.
A case has been registered under sections 489 A , 489B and 489C of IPC at Panaji Police station and further investigation is in progress.
