CHICALIM: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday evening laid the foundation stone for Phase III of the Joggers Park at Chicalim, marking another step towards transforming the popular public space into a modern, inclusive and vibrant recreational destination for residents of Dabolim and surrounding areas.
The latest phase has been designed with a focus on health, accessibility, recreation, technology and environmental sustainability, with facilities planned to cater to people across different age groups and abilities.
A key feature will be wheelchair-accessible and sensory-friendly spaces, making the park more welcoming to persons with disabilities. The project will also include dedicated children’s play areas, a green gym and additional sit-out spaces for exercise, leisure and social interaction.
The upgraded park is proposed to have a cafeteria and food court, additional washrooms and a music den, adding convenience as well as a creative and cultural element to the recreational space.
Modern amenities will include smart poles equipped with Wi-Fi and CCTV surveillance, EV charging facilities and improved lighting, aimed at making the park safer and more user-friendly, particularly during evening hours.
The project also incorporates sustainability measures, including the proposed use of treated grey water for irrigation, reducing dependence on fresh water for maintaining the park’s green spaces.
With facilities planned for children, senior citizens, fitness enthusiasts and persons with disabilities, Phase III is expected to further strengthen Joggers Park as a community-oriented space promoting fitness, recreation, accessibility and social interaction.
