PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) today, at the hands of Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, inaugurated the 1.5 tonnes per day (TPD) capacity garbage treatment plant at its site at Keriya Khandepar with the support of the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA). The cost of the facility is around Rs 90 lakhs.
Each of the three machines can treat 500 kg of wet garbage.
Minister Ravi Naik assured to provide all the cooperation for the development of the City. He said such projects are possible because of the united effort and cooperation that will keep City clean.
PMC Chairperson Ritesh R. Naik, Archana Naik Dangui Vice Chairperson, Councillor Venkatesh Naik, and other councillors were present for the function.
Chairperson Ritesh Naik said PMC is planning to set up a 5-tonne per day (TPD) capacity garbage treatment plant at its site at Keriya Khandepar in future for the treatment of garbage generated at PMC as well as Curti Panchayat Jurisdiction.
This will help Ponda and the surrounding village clean. He said every day, around 9 tonnes generate in PMC jurisdiction.
Presently, the PMC, through an agency, collects around 7 tonnes of waste per day from households in the town, part of which is sent to the Saligao garbage treatment plant.
