CANACONA: Not many Panchayats in Canacona were not interested in the upcoming Agriculture Policy, as enthusiasm was clearly lacking in government recommended Agriculture police at most of the Special Gramsabhas held on Gandhi Jayanti (2nd Oct).
While Poinguinim was the only gramsabhha who had discussed but did not pass any resolution on Agriculture policy, none of the other panchayat seems to have even discussed the upcoming Agriculture Policy.
Poinguinim Dy Sarpanch Sunil Paigankar who in the leave absence of Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar chaired the special gramsabha, informed that the farmers of the village working in Agriculture sector were especially invited to attend the meet, and their suggestions for the benefit to the farmers through upcoming agriculture policy were taken in consideration. We will convey the farmers suggested points which are required to be incorporated to implement the Agriculture Policy to the government, informed Paingankar.
Agonda Sarpanch Preetal Fernandes asserted that the special gramsabha was briefly held, the agriculture policy did not come into discussion and nothing was decided on the issue.
At the Gramsabha of Shristhal, no discussion took place on Agriculture Policy, three other resolutions were passed including congratulations to the government for according its nod for 33% Reservation for Women and also congratulated the central Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Swachta Din which enables mass cleanliness drive all over the country.

Resolution passed were 1. Congratulations to Scientists (ISRO) on the successful Launched of Chandrayaan-III
2. Resolution congratulating the central government for reservation for thirty three percent to women.
3. Resolution congratulating on the award bestowed by the Central Government on Khotigao village as Best Tourism Village.
There was however no response from Gaondongrim sarpanch, Loliem-Polem panchayat and Khola Sarpanch when asked whether the Agriculture policy issues came up for discussion at Monday special gramsabha.
