PONDA: Mystery prevails over pending renovation work of Ponda KTC Bus Stand as passengers and locals businessman are clueless as why the work is halted and pending.
The Commuters travelling through Ponda KTC Bus Stand has express concern over contractor abandoned renovation work on KTC Bus Stand shed at half way since past four month.
Bandora former Sarpanch Rajesh Naik today sought Chief Ministers intervention to complete the long pending renovation of KTC Bus Stand.
He said Commuters unhappy as Renovation work on Ponda KTC Bus Stand halted for long time,which also hit business of local vendors,while some buses takes passengers on main road and directly ply to their destination without coming to bus stand due to worst condition.
He said Commuters fears they will have to face same hardship again in monsoon as they faced last year if work is not restart and completed.
While on other hand the KTC Officials says the work is not halted and it under construction while commuters said no worker is seen since past four months.
In June last year the contractor had removed the sheets over dilapidated shed and had began strengthening work on slabs and beams. However since past four months neither any work or workers is seen at site.
Meanwhile the entry and exit road beside parking bay area is in worst condition since past few years. Drainage system is collapsed due to which road get destroyed after hotmix work.
Though PWD officials says they had issued tender so far no hotmix carpeting is began and due to abd road some buses avoid to go bus stand and stands on main road to pickup and drop.
It may be recalled that in the year 2022 Government declared KTC Bus stand shed unsafe for use of passengers and declared to repair it.
The commuters since than were standing in the open while waiting for buses facing rain and sun.
The temporary shed erected can be occupied by few people and name sake said passengers. Three months later in June started work on its renovation by costing around Rs 1 Crore, however the shop owners, business man operating at KTC Bus stand said since past four months there is workers is seen in conducting renovation work. The contractor had said that it would be completed in three months , however the work appears to be abandoned for past four months.
Meanwhile Goa Can Convenor Roland Martin’s said he would write to Collector and Director of Transport as commuters are suffering. He said nobody know why bus stand work is stopped suddenly. He said the road at KTC in worst state and causing dust pollution. He said both repair work on shed and hotmix carpeting of road should take by government before monsoon.
