PONDA: Ponda Traffic Police Cell has booked around 25100 traffic violations cases for past six months and collected a revenue of Rs 7156650 starting from January 2022 to 25 June 2022.
Ponda Traffic PI Krishna Sinhari urged people to follow traffic rules including wearing of helmet and seat belt for their own safety. The new Motorvehicle Act is implemented from April 2022. He said they are issuing fines to bring discipline among vehicle riders.
The vehicles parked in no parking zones are locked and issued fines. Incase of Ponda City there is major traffic congestion near Almeida Highschool at morning and after school hours, however traffic police and barricades are deputed for smooth flow of traffic.
He said PMC should provide spaces so that traffic police mark them for parking. Incase of Ponda Market the parking spaces are marked for cars and bikes.
The 25100 cases booked includes Driving under influence of Alcohol 60, Overspeeding 987, Using mobile phone while riding 75 cases, dangerous Driving142cases, Driving bike without helmet 4180 cases, license suspended 1110 cases, Tinted glass violations 2881, Dangerous parking 3912 cases, Driving by minor without license 18, Driving by person above eighteen years of age 106 cases besides there are other violations.
