PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the Porvorim’s Health Centre will be equipped with comprehensive facilities.
This announcement came in response to the requests made by Minister for Tourism and IT Rohan Khaunte who shared that the Health Department was granted a 2000 sqm plot of Housing Board land near the old market in Porvorim last year and appealed to the Health Minister to establish a new Health Centre, featuring a complete OPD, emergency services, trauma centre, gynaecological facilities, and a fully operational day care centre, complete with a comprehensive pharmacy.
Rane highlighted that the forthcoming Primary Health Centre in Porvorim will house essential services like a trauma centre, gynaecological care, physiotherapy, and a daycare centre.
He also disclosed that the government plans to construct a dedicated 50-bed dialysis unit within the premises of the new building.
Rane emphasized that Goa’s commitment to providing medicine and medical facilities free of cost remains unparalleled, solidifying its status as the sole State with this progressive healthcare initiative.
“Whether it’s insulin or medications for cardiac patients, Goa extends the provision of these essential treatments free of charge,” he added.
Addressing the alarming rise in blood pressure problems and strokes among those aged 25 to 35 due to lifestyle shifts, he earnestly urged youngsters to learn the significance of respecting their own lives.
Rohan Khaunte highlighted that Porvorim stands alone in Goa as the exclusive location with a standalone Dialysis unit.
Informing about the allocation of a 2000 sqm plot from the Housing Board near the old market in Porvorim to the Health Department last year, Shri Rohan Khaunte urged the Health Minister to construct a new Health Centre at the location.
He called upon the Health Minister to initiate the construction of a new Health Centre at this site, incorporating a comprehensive OPD, emergency services, trauma centre, gynaecological facilities, and a fully functional day care centre with a well-equipped pharmacy.
Smt. Kavita Naik, ZP Member, Shri. Sapnil Chodankar, Penha De Franca, Sarpanch, Smt. Sonia Pednekar Sarpanch V. P Socorro was also present on the occasion.
Dr Shikhander Talwar, the Medical Officer in charge of Porvorim Health Centre gave the welcome address.
Dr. Geeta Kakodkar, Director, Directorate of Health Services and Shri Shekhar Sardessai, Managing Director, Kineco Kaman Composites Pvt. Ltd also spoke on the occasion.
