OLD GOA: The Save Old Goa Action Committee has demanded TCP to prepare and implement a master plan for Old Goa, to include all the heritage sites to protect them from encroachments.
In a letter to local MLA Rajesh Faldesai the committee has given a charter of demands to be fulfilled immediately.
“As discussed with you during our meeting, we recap the few detrimental issues facing Old Goa, especially the heritage sites, for your reference,” the Committee wrote to Cumbharjua MLA.
Master plan for Old Goa
The Save Old Goa Action Committee says it has been petitioning the TCP to prepare and implement a master plan for Old Goa, to include all the heritage sites to protect them from encroachments.
“On this issue we look for your support and held to get the master plan implemented before the exposition of St. Francis Xavier in 2024. Also 300 mt buffer zone to be demarcated and RP 2020 – 2021,” the committee says.

Further, they thanked the MLA for the illegal Shaina NC’s bunglow in heritage area.
“We thank you for your support for our protest of this illegal bungalow. As our fight to have this structure removed/demolished, we thank you for your assurance of getting the same demolished in six months’ time. We are anxiously awaiting your action on it,” committee says.
Letarite stone resort & hotels project in protected area
The committee says it had submitted to IPB around 17,000 letters objecting to this project coming up in close vicinity of a existing heritage church of high religious importance; i.e. the church of Our Lady of Mount (Monti Saibinn) as it is not appropriate to have such a project of ill repute sentiments defiling holy church & religious Sentiments.
Ghost houses….
Illegal house numbers issued to non-existent houses, by Old Goa panchayat to non-existing houses.
“This is a serious offence which will have detrimental effect on heritage areas as well as tourism favoured sites. We seek your intervention to get these illegal house numbers revoked as soon as possible.
