Prof Harilal Menon was appointed Vice-Chancellor in September 2021 and was the first full-time academic from within Goa University to occupy the post. Before his appointment as Vice-Chancellor, Menon served as Dean of the School of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at the university.
As per the eligibility criteria for the post, applicants were required to be eminent academicians with at least 10 years of teaching experience at the university level or a minimum of 10 years of experience in a recognised research institution or academic body.
