PANAJI: With 79.6 mm average rain recorded in Goa in last 24 hours, the cumulative rainfall in the state has crossed 50 inch mark today while rain surplus has touched 9.8 percent.
Total cumulative rainfall in Goa since June 1 this year is placed at 1271.6 mm (50.06 inch).
Maximum rainfall in last 24 hours was recorded in Canacona i.e. 126.8 mm followed by 90.8 mm in Pernem.
Other stations reported the following rainfall in the last 24 hours: Sanguem – 82.1 mm, Margao 81.3 mm, Mormugao – 47.6 mm, Pernem – 130.8 mm, Ponda 73.4 mm, Dabolim – 79.2 mm, Mapusa – 76.2 mm, Old Goa – 69.7 mm, Quepem – 80.8 mm, Valpoi -69 mm, and Sakhalim – 64.4 mm and Panaji 79.7.
India Meteorological Department Scientist Naresh Kumar on July 06 said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is being expected in Konkan Goa and Gujarat for the next 4-5 days.
Naresh Kumar said, “We received a maximum rainfall in Palam, Delhi. At present extremely heavy rainfall in Kerala and Coastal Karnataka and Konkan Goa is being witnessed. It will continue today in Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, we have given red alert for the public. Similarly, we are expecting heavy to very heavy rainfall in Konkan Goa, Gujarat for next 4-5 days.”
