PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has urged people across Goa to remain vigilant against mosquito-borne diseases during the monsoon, stressing that prevention must begin at the household and community level.
Rane said the increase in mosquito breeding during the rainy season raises the risk of diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya, making it important for residents to take preventive measures regularly.
He appealed to people to ensure that water does not stagnate around homes and neighbourhoods, keep water containers covered and remove potential mosquito breeding sites.
The Health Minister also called for regular cleaning of surroundings, saying that spending a few minutes each week on preventive measures could help reduce the risk of serious illness.
Rane urged residents to remain alert for symptoms including high fever, severe headache, body ache, rash and unusual weakness. Those developing such symptoms should seek medical attention promptly at the nearest health centre.
He said preventing mosquito-borne diseases requires collective responsibility and called upon citizens to work together to keep Goa healthy during the monsoon.
