PANAJI: Goa Forward President (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai today said that the retention of ports limits in the CZMP will destroy fishing activity in Goa.
Sardesai also questioned as to whose directions did the NCSCM, Chennai & Scrutiny committee retained the port limits.
“Retention of ports limits in the CZMP will destroy fishing activity in Goa. On whose directions did the NCSCM, Chennai & Scrutiny committee retained the port limits,” questioned Sardesai
He further said that state government should try to bring in the Port Limits when it was unanimously rejected by public & GCZMA body.
Terming the Major Port Authorities Bill as an attack on the sovereignty of Goa as a State, a team under the banner of Citizens for Democracy, led by former bureaucrat Elvis Gomes met with the Ports Minister Michael Lobo, the Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, Goa Forward Leader Vijai Sardesai and several other MLAs and handed over a letter demanding discussion in the assembly on what was termed as grave existential crisis set to engulf Goans.
“Major Port Authorities Bill would pose a serious challenge to the existence of Goa as the 25th State in the Union and called upon the Goa government to address the challenges posed rather than being a mute spectator,” they had said earlier
